I wanted to start this blog yesterday, because it was the first of the month. But I moved back to college and my day was complete and utter chaos. Be lucky I'm even functioning at this point in time. I haven't felt this tired since...this time last year. I moved back early to help out with the Hall Move-In, which technically makes me a Pointer Pal (a stupid name for an almost useless position). I never sleep good the first night in any new location, and it was worsened by the fact that my room is currently set at Florida Everglades or Amazon Rainforest temperature and atmosphere. I was literally plastered to my sheets all throughout the night. I also woke up every hour, on the hour. It was miserable. I'm hoping --nay-- praying that it'll be cooler tonight. It's always so flipping hot the first week of classes and then somehow September remembers it's supposed to be a cooler month and WHAM! Summer clothes are being stored away until the next trip home and you're wearing several layers of clothes to prevent frostbite and hypothermia.
Tomorrow is the official move-in day for incoming students, aka FRESHMEN! I should say I'm excited to be the typical upperclassmen to these peons, but I'm rooming with one (who, coincidentally, just graduated from my old high school). I never really understood freshmen hazing in college; no one knows what year you are unless you make it completely obvious, like walking into the wrong classroom, wrong building or you get lost in the Science Building (to this day, I cannot find my way to classes in that god-forsaken piece of architecture). I think hazing of underclassmen is only prevalent in high school, where you spend 6-7 hours a day with the same people and you know who is who. Unless you join a fraternity or sorority, I can't tell if you're a freshmen or a Super Senior.
I'm excited for the semester to start, because I finally figured out what I want to do with my life. I have to go in next week and switch some things around, but hopefully I'll get on the path I want soon enough. I'm currently a Psychology and Sociology major, with German and History as minors. If all goes to plan, I should be a Broadfield Social Sciences with Teaching Intent major, minoring in History, along with Psychology and Anthropology. Why all the "-ologies", you ask? Simple. I'm making my life easier by combining my two majors into one and adding anthropology to help me make headway into the world of Folklore.
I chose to go into the world of Folklore after realizing that I wouldn't be comfortable in any other career than this. I can't incorporate my interests in a job that would have me sitting behind a computer for 8 hours a day. Granted, that's what I'll probably be doing later, but at least I'm doing something I enjoy. I can integrate my interests (historical places, paranormal, writing, research) and *hopefully* accomplish something. We'll see, I guess.
I finally got my desk organized and I realized that I have a lot of space, but nothing to fill in those spaces. My room is extremely storage-friendly. Under my bed, I have so many areas to squirrel away items that I most likely will be acquiring over the next semester.
I'm also watching Tosh.0 at the moment and even though I've seen this episode probably 20 times, it still cracks me up.
On that note, I think I'll post a picture with each blog post. Today...
